Amazing NFL AthletesJen Fox provides an overview of her five Freakiest Athletes in the NFL Today. The NFL recently released its annual “Top 100 Players List” for 2015. Aaron Rodgers is the top spot, a freak quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers is a 2x MVP winner, and he has a career passer rating of 106, which is decidedly freakish if you consider no one else in NFL history has had a rating above 98. In honour of Rodgers's top NFL ranking, a few more players are true human marvels.
Odell Beckham Jr. (New York Giants)Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is a rare oddity, as he can mystify plays. His athletic abilities are almost superhuman. He took home the "Best Play" award at the 2015 ESPY Awards for catching a ball in the end zone with only one hand. Blink, and you will miss the moment, but thankfully caught on tape to be watched in slow-motion again and again. If you wonder just how good Beckham is, consider Hall of Fame Michael Strahan recently called him the greatest athlete on Earth. Considering there are no solid NFL players in our solar system (ignoring all the ones on earth), can it also be assumed that Strahan believes Beckham is the best in our galaxy, at least? All joking aside, Beckham is about as good as it gets. T.J. Barnes (New York Jets)Is there something in the water in New York? Freakish athleticism seems to be a mainstay for New York's players, including the biggest lineman in the NFL, T.J. Barnes. Barnes towers at 6-foot-7 and weighs 364 pounds. His immense size makes him an excellent defensive lineman because he is almost impossible to move. Marcus Mariota (Tennessee Titans)Mariota is a rookie, but he is already proven himself to be the most athletic quarterback in the NFL. He is a “quick-twitch quarterback,” according to NFL.com. He is a freak because he is “able to make off-balance, difficult throws,” and he can “uncork throws quickly and without resetting feet when necessary.” These abilities combined with his superhuman speed make Marcus Mariota a true human marvel.
Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks)The supreme athleticism of quarterback Russell Wilson cannot be denied. The QB's training schedule is ridged, and his dedication to exercise has paid off. Sports contributor Dean Grimes finds Wilson's “ability to convert third downs with scrambles” maddening. And, who could disagree? Wilson is quick and nimble, and he is found himself in back-to-back Super Bowls for a reason. What is more freakish about him? His dedication to doing things his way extends beyond the football field. He is engaged to Ciara, but he and the beautiful one-name singer are waiting until marriage to do the deed. J.J. Watt (Houston Texans)Watt is not just freakish; he is downright scary in his ability to deflect passes and sack the competition. In a recent ranking of the scariest players in the NFL, Athlon Sports suggested the defensive end was not of this world. “Watt crawled from the primordial abyss…to become the gnarliest, scariest player in the most frightening league on the planet.” Perhaps this is due to his superhuman “wingspan,” which stretches 82.5? With his arms outstretched, he can frighten any opposing players. There is only one way never to miss Watt's terrifyingly awesome on-field behaviour, and that is by subscribing to Direct Ticket, a feature of DirecTV service in Houston, which ensures you will be able to watch and record every game. ConclusionIn terms of freak abilities, every player able to graduate beyond college sports is a freak in their own right. Pro football players have a more rigorous schedule than most and devote their every ability to the game. Although the freakiest players stand out regarding stats and skills, it is essential to acknowledge all the NFL players' dedication, strength, and talents.
