Indoor Exercises

Aqib Raja explains the four ways you can exercise without stepping outside.

Now that the colder months are approaching you will find yourself staying in a lot more, which will most likely involve missing your regular gym sessions. If you hate the cold but want to carry on exercising, there are plenty of ways to get fit without having to leave the warmth of your home. Take a look at these top tips which will help you maintain your physique whatever the weather.

Use on-site facilities

Nowadays, there are plenty of apartment buildings that have an on-site gym. For those lucky enough to have this perk, there are no excuses, and you can get in your minimum of thirty minutes a day without stepping one foot out the door.

This is an important thing to consider if you are planning to move, as there are plenty of modern developments, including the apartments available at RW Invest which feature in-house gym facilities. By living in this type of property, you can massively improve your fitness, while also saving money on a gym membership.

Exercise with the kids

Many parents use their children as an excuse for their lack of exercise. While, it is understandable that they take up a lot of time, especially if they are five or below, it is still possible to get your daily amount of fitness. All you have to do is involve them, which will be easy as kids love being active, and it will also tire them out.

Many fitness gurus believe exercising with children is so beneficial, as it can teach them the importance of keeping fit and healthy. An excellent example is a plank, especially if you have smaller children, as you can use them as a form of weight on your back. This will also be fun for them, as it is something new that they can try while also helping mum and dad keep on staying on top of their fitness.

Get your yoga on

One of the easiest ways to exercise from home is by yoga, as all you need is a mat or even just a towel. If you are already an avid yogi, you can make up your daily sequence or beginners can try YouTube videos to get them started. You can start with a 20-minute yoga session and build up with some intermediate and eventually advanced practices which can last up to two hours.

By completing one or two sessions every day, you will massively improve your fitness while also bettering your mental health, as yoga combines the development of the mind and body.

Buy your equipment

If you are serious about getting toned, the most effective way to do this is by using home weights. Many people have a lot of misconceptions regarding weights, especially women, who avoid them as they do not want to appear too muscly. This assumption is entirely wrong, and weights are proven to be the number one weight loss and toning tool.

If you have never used weights before, you should start by purchasing some kettlebells between a mass of 8kg and 32kg, depending on your size and ability. This will enable you to boost your exercise, for example, the Russian twist is a great exercise, but with weights, you can completely transform your physique if you perform regular reps each day. There are also plenty of other weighted activities you can achieve with kettlebells, which can even be done in front of your favourite Netflix show.
