Foot Pain Relief

Sally Perkins provides advice on what you can do to seek relief from foot pain.

Most of us make the mistake of taking the feet for granted and forget to take care of the most crucial part of the body, without which we could not walk. Things are a little different for women because they keep their feet under their watchful eyes to ensure that they look good and, in the process, adapt the foot care routine. Men must follow the same, even though only for health reasons.

The feet contribute to overall health, and having a sore foot can be as bad as any other disease. Never ignore your feet, and if you ever feel discomfort, itching, or rashes, it is time to consult a podiatrist for treatment. Regarding foot care, prevention is always better than cure because neglecting the early signs of problems can have far-reaching health effects.

Importance of preventive foot care

Quality of life – Healthy feet mean a healthy body and a better quality of life.  How self-sufficient you are determines how good your quality of life is. When your feet are in order, you can maintain regular activities like walking, working, and shopping, which are signs of self-sufficiency. If you have a foot injury or other problems, your ability to do things independently will diminish, and you will not be able to function at your best.

Productive work – Problems with your feet will affect your working ways and, in turn, your productivity. It is true even if you have a desk job. Poor health can impede work performance, affecting your ability to interact with people by reaching out to them physically.

Physical activity – When you have foot problems, you cannot exercise. Restricted mobility will harm your health by increasing various health risks. Due to lack of exercise, your chances of diabetes and heart disease will increase, and your overall health will deteriorate.

What to do if you have foot pain

Foot pain usually manifests in the form of heel pain and heel spurs.

Heel pain – Plantar Fasciitis is the scientific name for heel pain, which happens due to inflammation or irritation of the band of tough tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes. You can feel the pain in the heel or the arch, mainly during the morning when you get out of bed.

For relief, you must wear shoes with a cushioned sole and excellent arch support besides doing heel and foot muscle stretches.

Heel spurs Heel spurs are abnormal bone growth on the bottom of your heel that causes pain. It can happen due to abnormal posture, walking, wearing the wrong shoes, or even running. You feel the pain when you are standing or walking. Many people have the problem but do not experience pain

To treat the problem, you must wear an orthotic in the shoe, a cutout heel pad, try physical therapy, and rest your foot.
