Pre-Exercise Health Check
Exercise is a form of physical activity undertaken primarily to improve one's health and physical fitness. If you are about to increase your physical activity, then it is
recommended that you check with your doctor to ensure that it is safe for you
to do so. The following questions may help you identify if you should discuss your proposed increase in physical activity with your
doctor.
Questions
If you can answer YES to any of the following questions, you
should first talk to your doctor about your proposed physical activity.
- Have you sought medical advice for a heart condition?
- Do you experience chest pains?
- Do you have a bone or joint problem?
- Do you have low or high blood pressure?
- Are you pregnant?
- Are you a diabetic?
- Are you an asthmatic?
- Are you over 60 years of age?
- Have you had an injury in the last six months?
- Have you had a cold in the last two weeks?
- Do you know of any reason why you should not increase your
physical activity?
If you honestly answered NO to all the questions above, you can gradually increase your physical activity level.
