Resting Daily Energy Expenditure
It is possible to determine your resting daily energy expenditure (RDEE) using your weight, height and age. This method was validated by Harris and Benedict (1919) [1] using closed-circuit spirometry.
The Algorithms
For Males
- RDEE = 66 + (13.7 x weight) + (5 x height) - (6.8 x age)
For Females
- RDEE = 655 + (9.6 x weight) + (1.85 x height) - (4.7 x age)
